As a newer member of the Sovereign team I can tell you this question is still fresh on my mind. There are a lot of things that factored into my decision, but if I had to boil them all down, I would say I wanted to work for a company that would enable me to grow professionally, and Sovereign does that!

I came to Sovereign from a nationwide insurance company. It was a great job, and I really enjoyed it, but as you can imagine it was a very structured environment. My job priorities and training opportunities focused around the specific needs of my company. While there’s nothing wrong with that, there wasn’t a lot of opportunity for me to explore the new areas of technology that I found exciting.

When I interviewed at Sovereign it was clear that employee growth was central to their culture. Not only was robust training encouraged, it was part of the job! I’m not just given the opportunity to stay on the cutting edge of my field, it’s expected of me! I absolutely love that mindset. I love being able to read an article about new technology that could help our customers, and I am also encouraged to explore it and bring back that knowledge to my peers for discussion and practical use.

And it isn’t just about technical training and certifications. Sovereign team members expressed an active interest in my future when I was interviewing. We talked about where I wanted to be in five years and 10 years, and they took the time to talk to me about how I could get there at Sovereign. It was a huge draw for me to know that I would be working for a company that would support me and push me to constantly evolve, learn, and expand into new areas professionally.

On a more personal note, joining Sovereign gave me the opportunity to move to a new city and explore a little more of the world. I love to travel and visit new places, and it’s been a wonderful experience moving to Atlanta and seeing all that it has to offer. Even my grouchy old man of a pup agrees! He’s had a great time seeing the sites (and especially dog parks)!
