Rush Post: Losing vNIC settings

In case you missed our vArchitects blast a couple weeks ago regarding the rush post to notify of a potential outage scenario caused by losing vNIC settings following a Microsoft update, here’s the articlefrom VMware with the latest updates and fixes.

Possible new vSphere CBT bug with Nimble and VVols

As mentioned by Anton Gostev in his weekly Veeam Forum Newsletter email, Veeam support have discovered (and confirmed) a new CBT bug which cannot be fixed by an active full backup. This bug, which has been demonstrated with the API directly, seems to be linked to VVols and Nimble storage, although no details as to the combination and hardware. To be clear, even if you’re NOTa Veeam customer, you may be affected by this bug if you use vSphere + VVols + Nimble storage. If you are a Veeam customer using this combination, you may want to open a quick support case so they can track you and provide updates as they are known, but Gostev does say they’re working closely with VMware support to isolate and, hopefully, fix this ASAP. Issues like these are precisely why you should be using SureBackup if you aren’t already. It’s one of the most underused features of Veeam, and so if you own it, use it!
